t shirt, and prizes.
May’s meeting will include forming committees to organize:
Food (Monday dinner, Friday breakfast and snacks)
Prizes and awards
Tshirts
Paul will coordinate trailering
Whidbey Island club will be bringing a few riders. A parent from Whidbey Island will be looking at the site this weekend and will have more info. Moody Ann is checking into insurance for some adults coming with their club who wish bring horses and do
trail riding.
The situation of USPC members from other clubs (not EHPC or Whidbey Island
clubs) who wish to attend our camp was discussed. The consensus was that this
should be decided case by case. Moody Ann will add a policy to our policy and
procedures.
We were reminded that we have May and June meetings and one parent meeting
a week or so before camp to finalize plans,
C. UR rating. Maria reported that Emili (now D1) and Alli (now D2) had each rated up.
She noted that the girls had done well, and had been surprised that they were to have a speech prepared for the rater. A mock rating and attending/watching other kids do ratings were suggested.
D. movie/fun night. Lori reported that the movie night was a success. She suggested
limiting the activity to PC members in the future. Watching video of Rolex with
Lindsay at a future fun night or unmounted meeting was suggested.
E. Bandaging Clinic. Parents reported that this was very educational for the kids. Kate
L will email info re: where to find the correct bandages. Ron suggested kids
practice using standing wraps regularly- perhaps after mounted lessons with older kids assisting younger kids. Remind kids to bring bandages to mounted meetings!
F. Gold Creek Event. Lots of fun and learning (and ribbons!). Paul brought up a
close call between two riders in the warm up arena at this show. Reviewing safety
in this setting was discussed and needs to be addressed.
Fee for Lindsay coaching this event is $15.00. Lori suggested trainer fees for events and clinics be established up front.
G. Garage/tack sale. Lori suggested
June 17, 9-5 for this sale. (the previous May date conflicts with a Gold Creek
Show). A 4-h club will be renting space.
Tack can be brought in the day before.
H. Regional commitment. June 3rd and 4th
we provide food for the C-3 prep. Tori and Erika will have info next month.
I. Additional Regional Commitment
was discussed with the possibility of supporting another club’s event, perhaps in Sept.
J. We need a C rating coordinator. Moody Ann will ask Nancy…
K. Policies and Procedures. Running out of time here, but Moody Ann will draw something up based on previous meetings. We can email further suggestions to her.
5. New Business:
a. Guest/siblings at un mounted
meetings. It was decided that guests and siblings should not interfere with unmounted
teaching.
6. Other:
Kate reported that Stephanie
and her catch team had placed 3rd
at the qualifying C jump rally. Her experience was very positive. She strongly encouraged members (especially older kids) to participate in and learn from these events,
returning home to teach other members.
Baums arena will be getting sand in the future. Right now it is too muddy to drive trucks onto the property. Also,
there are holes in the field due to drainage problems and hooves. PLEASE BRING SHOVELS TO THE MOUNTED MEETING AND FILL A HOLE
OR TWO WHILE YOU WAIT FOR YOUR CHILD’S LESSON. IT’LL BE FUN!!
Also, Anna Richards and Emily Schuler qualified for West Coast Champs
in Quiz Rally.
The meeting was adjourned.
